Because one in eight
women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and
over 3,000 will be diagnosed in our community this year alone.
Each
year our community comes together and supports our organization through
wonderful fundraising events like Golf for the Cure®, Swing for the Cure®, Cook
for the Cure®, Hoops for the Cure®, and so many more.
The money
raised through these community events contributes to our annual fundraising
efforts and helps to provide the dollars needed for local community-based
programs that educate, screen and diagnose women who cannot afford these
services.
To date, we have awarded over $18 million to provide innovative
breast health and breast cancer services for the uninsured and under-insured in
our 19 county service region.
This October, we were overwhelmed
by the enthusiasm, support and generosity of our community partners. We witnessed amazing creativity,
thoughtfulness, and the greatest variety of community involvement, from local
schools to organizations, businesses and publications across our service area, including:

Pierce High School Volleyball team raised $1,200 for Susan G. Komen Sacramento Valley during a pink night.

Stanislaus County Office of Education employees at Margaret L. Annear School raised $220 for Susan G. Komen Sacramento Valley.

The kids at Lincoln Crossing Elementary School "pinked out" their school to aid in our fight against breast cancer. Their Vice Principal also promised to color his hair pink if they met their fundraising goal of $1,500 by 9am - and they surpassed their goal!

For the month of October 7 Flags Car Wash full service sites in Vallejo,Fairfield, and Vacaville donated a portion of every full service car wash to Susan G. Komen Sacramento Valley.

The Solar Company raised $14,500 for Susan G. Komen Sacramento Valley during the month of October by donating $250 for every solar installation!
