Q. When is the Race?

A. The Race will be held on October 1, 2017.

Q. Where is the Race?

A. The Race will be held at Chukchansi Park, Downtown Fresno.

Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?

A. No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.

Q. What is included in the registration fee?

A. You will get a Race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!

Q. As an individual participant, how will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?

           SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 11 AM TO 6 PM
            4888 N. FRESNO ST.

Q. How long is the Race?

A. The Race is a US Track and Field certified 5K course (3.1 miles). There is also a shorter route option for walkers 1 mile. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on Race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers. NEW!!! Race course maps are available here.

Q. How can I become a volunteer?

A. The success of the Komen Central Valley Race depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Race and on Race Day.

To volunteer, please complete the following two steps:

  • Complete a Volunteer Application available here.
  • Signup for the job and shift of your choice available here.

Q. Are pets and strollers* allowed at the event?

NOTE:  In compliance with Susan G. Komen Central Valley, Fresno License Agreement according to item:
12b. No animals of any kind (except service dogs as defined by California Civil Code
Sections 54.1 and 54.2) may be present at any event where attendees number 1,000 persons or more, unless animals are functionally part of the event (e.g., livestock shows, equestrian
competitions, cat and dog shows, etc.).  

 *For the safety of all participants, participants with strollers/baby joggers participating in the walks or runs must stay in the back of other participants & pets or rollerblades are not allowed.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Q. What if it rains?

 A. This event will occur rain or shine.  We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances.  In that event, there will be no refunds, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Central Valley Race for the Cure.


Fundraising FAQ

Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?

A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT - raising money helps ensure the following life-saving programs:

  • Mammograms for uninsured/underinsured women and men
  • Breast cancer navigation to help women with employment, insurance or finances
  • Financial assistance so that breast cancer survivors may continue treatment
  • Culturally diverse breast cancer education and wellness programs
  • Breast cancer screening events

Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?

 A. Yes! Up to seventy-five percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs.

The remaining twenty-five percent supports Komen’s national research and training grants program

Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?

A. Yes, as follows for those in contention for the prizes or awards given out on Race day:

Top ten individual fundraisers will receive prizes. Top Individual raising the most funds will receive a 25,000 AAdvantage® Miles Certificate from American Airlines to any destination in the contiguous U.S. They will also be featured on the Komen Central Valley homepage for one year. 

Overall Top Team fundraiser will receive the following recognition; a beautiful trophy, their Team name on the 2018 Official Komen Central Valley Race for the Cure t-shirt and a complimentary Team tailgate on Race day for the following year(2018)

Individual fundraisers in contention for the Top 10 Individual Fundraiser prizes, your deadlines are as follows:

1. By mail - September 23 (postmarked) send to:

2. Online - September 28 by 11:59 PM

3. In person - September 30 by 12:00 pm sharp (all donations turned in on September 30th must be dropped off in person at):

Team fundraisers who are in contention for the awards given out on Race day for the Most Donation team awards in each team category will be due as follows:

1. By mail – September 25th (postmarked) send to:

2. Online – September 28th at 11:59 pm

Please note, only those teams registered by September 20th will qualify for the Team Awards given on Race day.

Team FAQ

Q. How do I form a team?

A. To be considered an official team, you will need 10 or more registered members by the day TEAMS CLOSE online on September 20th at 11:59 pm. For more information, contact us at (559) 229-4255 or teamschair@sbcglobal.net.
Please note, new teams cannot be formed nor can new members be added after 11:59 PM on September 20, 2017.

Q. What are the team due dates?

Hard copy entry forms due - at either, In-person Team Packet Drop off day on September 16, 2017, at Macy's Fashion Fair, lower level from 10-1pm or by mail on September 12, 2017(postmarked).


Online - TEAM DEADLINE IS September 20, 2017, at 11:59 pm.

Q. What are the benefits of a team?

A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved. To learn more check out the Team Rewards page.

Q. Do teams have to fundraise?

A. Teams are not required to fundraising but we strongly encourage fundraising. Fundraising as a team can be fun. Click here to get a list of fundraising events your team can do.

Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?

A. Please contact Lisa at teamschair@sbcglobal.net to get this corrected.

Q. Can donations made to a team be split or shared among team members?

A. We are unable to split or transfer donations between individual and team accounts.
